But to those of us who are new to working for ourselves, it’s probably the most important thing overlooked when going into business, regardless of the type or size of the business. And there’s nothing wrong with this facet of working from home. Of course, the great skill of being able to sell anything to anyone is an exceptional skill and brings along with it a number of possible opportunities to succeed in life. But most of us just don’t have this talent and could not be forced into selling something in person, even with the promise of an attractive income. Thus, there are very few successful salespeople, leaving a small, skilled minority with high incomes. Unfortunately, most home based business endeavors will fail without the aid of the internet.

2) The anonymity of the internet eliminates the necessity of persuading your family and friends to buy your products.

Most, if not all traditional work from home businesses suggest making a list of friends, acquaintances, coworkers, and family members right from the beginning. Regardless of whether or not you are selling the best quality products available, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the people you know are your best customers. Chances are this small network of people will have little if any need for your wares, and to make matters even worse, will more than likely feel quite uncomfortable and obligated to buy.

In contrast, the internet allows you to reach more targeted prospects in a shorter amount of time, with the feeling of little or no rejection. You never see or hear from the people that say “no” to you. You only hear from those who say “yes” or who say “I’m interested. Tell me more.” This is extremely powerful because it allows someone who has an interest in sales but lacks the interest or ability to prospect in person to succeed in a work from home opportunity.

Of course, there are those traditionalists who still aren’t sold on the value of using the internet exclusively when running a work from home business, such as those who actually prefer the chance to talk with and see potential customers. Naturally, for those individuals who were born with the ability to connect easily with others, this rewarding aspect of making a living is what drives them to continue. However, the reality is that most people are looking for the fastest and legitimate method of being able to work from home and succeed in a competitive world. Bills need to be paid, and most families today must rely on two incomes to survive. And, because of the need for two incomes, free time is often minimal, which would leave little time for meetings, prospecting, and networking. The sheer convenience of being able to work from home behind your computer screen is incomparable, not to mention the ability to work in total privacy as well as the option to work whenever you like.

It’s certainly clear that the countless work from home businesses that utilize the internet offer a great number of unique advantages. Thankfully, there is a diverse array of lucrative online opportunities to consider.
